Direct contact of ProGuard preserved wood with aluminum is not
recommended and should be avoided - When using ProGuard
Preserved Wood in close proximity to aluminum products, such as
aluminum siding, flashing, furniture, and door and window frames, a
1/4" minimum space must be allowed for between the ProGuard and the
aluminum products. Polyethylene or nylon spacers can be used to
maintain the separation. Another option is to use a continuous barrier
of polyethylene film, with a minimum thickness of 10 mils, between the
ProGuard Preserved Wood and the aluminum product to prevent direct
contact of the wood and the aluminum. |

Drill pilot holes to minimize splitting, especially when
nailing or screwing near the edge or end of a board. |

Space
deck boards appropriately - If the wood is dry, allow 1/8"
spacing between boards for drainage and ventilation. Should the wood be
wet during construction, space deck boards closer together to allow for
shrinkage as drying occurs. |
